FIRESC Guide to Choosing a Diamond
Choosing a diamond shouldn't be complicated. In practice, a diamond's value and beauty are mainly determined by three essential elements: color, clarity and cut.
At FIRESC we always recommend choosing a balanced diamond — not necessarily the most expensive, but the one that offers the best visual beauty for your budget.
1. Diamond Color
Diamond color is graded from D to Z:
- D-F → exceptionally white (very rare)
- G-H → premium white (excellent beauty/value balance)
- I-J → slightly warm, still very attractive in most settings
- K+ → noticeable yellow tint
For most clients, G-H provides the best balance between a premium look and value.
FIRESC recommendations
- For a very white appearance: F-G
- Best value/quality balance: G-H
- For a larger-looking diamond within the same budget: I-J
2. Diamond Clarity
Clarity indicates how “clean” a diamond is internally. Most inclusions are NOT visible to the naked eye.
- FL / IF → extremely rare
- VVS1-VVS2 → inclusions very difficult to see
- VS1-VS2 → excellent for most clients
- SI1-SI2 → small inclusions, sometimes invisible without magnification
In practice, many VS and some SI1 diamonds appear perfect to the human eye.
FIRESC recommendations
- Ideal balance: VS1-VS2
- Discreet premium: VVS2
- Smart budget optimization: certain SI1 eye-clean diamonds
3. Diamond Cut
Cut is the most important factor for brilliance. A well-cut diamond can look larger, brighter and more valuable. A poorly cut diamond will look “dull,” even if it has excellent color and clarity.
FIRESC recommendation
Always choose Excellent or Very Good cut.
Better to have a diamond with color G, clarity VS2 and an Excellent cut than one with color D, clarity VVS1 but a poor cut.
FIRESC recommendation for most clients
For an elegant, spectacular diamond that's well optimized as an investment:
- ColorG-H
- ClarityVS1-VS2
- CutExcellent / Very Good
- CertificateGIA / IGI
What truly matters?
A diamond should look beautiful in real light, have correct proportions, deliver authentic brilliance, and fit smartly within your budget.
At FIRESC, every diamond is selected so the client receives the maximum beauty and real value — not just impressive specifications on paper.
